WINTER PROPERTY SAFETY

Why Timely Snow Removal Matters

Fresh snow is generally easier to remove. When it remains on the driveway, sunlight, changing temperatures, vehicle traffic, and foot traffic can compress the snow. It can then freeze into a dense, hard layer that is much more difficult to shovel, blow, or plow.

Snow can become substantially heavier when it absorbs rain or melting water. Light, powdery snow is easier to move, while wet snow contains more water and places greater strain on people and equipment. Removing accumulation earlier helps prevent an increasingly difficult cleanup.

Vehicles and pedestrians compress snow and remove the air between the snowflakes. When temperatures rise and fall, the compressed snow can partially melt and refreeze as ice. Once this happens, mechanical snow removal may not be enough, and deicing treatment may be necessary.

Waiting until a major storm completely ends can allow deep, heavy accumulation to build up. During extended storms, an initial pass helps maintain access and prevents excessive compaction. Additional visits may be needed as snow continues falling, followed by final cleanup after the storm.

Yes. Accumulated or refrozen snow can create slippery driveways, sidewalks, steps, mailbox areas, and garbage-bin access points. Timely service helps improve access for residents, visitors, deliveries, waste collection, and emergency personnel.

A seasonal agreement means you do not have to search for help after every storm. Power Landscapes monitors weather conditions, prepares the crews, and services your property according to the snowfall trigger and response window established in your agreement.
